'Capers: A Solo Play About Forced Relocation and the Human Right to Housing This award-winning play chronicles the experiences of residents of the Arthur Capper/Carrolsburg public housing project in South East Washington. It portrays the struggle on the part of the residents to save their home while facing a federal Hope VI initiative. The themes and issue portrayed in 'Capers are some of the same ones that we face in the Shaw community and throughout the District. This is a great opportunity for newer residents who moved here 'for the diversity' to learn more about issues of gentrification, development and displacement and to discover how they can create neighborhood equity for all residents. Time: 6:00 PM Date: Tuesday, June 6th, 2006 Location: Bus Boys & Poets Cafe 2021 14th St NW U St/Cardozo Green Line Metro Station Cost: $10 per person For Reservations: Please contact ONE DC at 202-232-2915 "Audiences watching 'Capers find themselves experiencing a wide range of emotions, from anger and indignation to glee and determination, as the playwright/actress performs the roles of children, grandmothers, and even DC Housing Authority Director Michael Kelly. Laughter and tears come easily as families go through the stages of grief fighting for their homes against great odds." Alex Padro, ANC2C
