It tells the history and current realities faced by the low-income tenants in both buildings, as they organize themselves and begin the process to purchase their homes. The Washington Post writes about 1107 11th St NW
The Sunday, January 1 issue of the Washington Post features the article titled Hoping to Own the Run-Down Place That's Home. It tells of the determination of the tenants at 1107 11th St NW, to purchase their building and remain in their 31-unit building. November 2005 The Spirit of Giving Guide spotlights Enterprising Staffing Solutions (ESS)
Enterprising Staffing Solutions (ESS), the worker-owned temporary employment company founded and supported by Manna CDC, was selected as one of the organizations featured in this year's Spirit of Giving Guide, published by the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region. Each year, the guide features high performing groups in different issue areas in the region who are doing exemplary work. This year's report, subtitled Jobs, Families and the American Dream in the Washington, D.C. Region, focuses on the critical issue of employment for low-income people. Manna CDC, with its partners the ICA Group and the National Cooperative Bank Development Corporation, founded ESS in 1997. The CDC is extremely happy that the hard work and success of ESS is being recognized in this year's Spirit of Giving Guide.
October 2005 NeighborWorks' Achieving Excellence Alert features Dominic Moulden
The Fall 2005 issue of the Achieving Excellence Alert features Dominic Moulden, the CDC's Executive Director. Achieving Excellence is a cutting edge organizational development program featuring a partnership with Harvard University's Hauser Center for Nonprofit Management. Dominic was accepted into the program, which included an intensive 18 months of executive coaching.
August 2005 The Baltimore Daily Record writes about SEA's Living Wage Jobs Campaign
In the August 24, 2005 issue, the Daily Record published Employees Right Next Door, an article highlighting Shaw Education for Action's Living Wage Jobs Campaign to ensure that new hotels serving the Convention Center support a targeted training program that would lead directly to living wage, entry level jobs for Shaw residents at the hotels.
